Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Concept 2000 (Ref. 2200-6530-66)

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is a legendary dive watch that was first introduced by the Swiss luxury watchmaker Blancpain in 1953. The watch was designed specifically for professional divers and was one of the first modern dive watches to be introduced to the market.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms was developed in collaboration with the French naval officer and diver, Captain Bob Maloubier, and his colleague Lieutenant Claude Riffaud. The two men were looking for a reliable and accurate timepiece to use on their underwater missions, and approached Blancpain with their idea for a dive watch.

Blancpain responded by creating the Fifty Fathoms, a watch that was water-resistant to a depth of 50 fathoms (roughly 91 meters), and featured a unidirectional rotating bezel for tracking dive times. The watch also featured large, luminescent markers on the dial for improved visibility in low light conditions.

The Concept 2000 was first introduced by Blancpain in the year 2000 to commemorate the new millennium. The watch was designed to showcase Blancpain's technical capabilities and to push the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. Both numerals and batons are finished in white gold.
