Ladies Certina 200m Diver

Establishment in 1888. The company was founded by Adolf and Alfred Kurth in the town of Grenchen, Switzerland. Initially named "Kurth Frères," the company started as a workshop specializing in the production of watch movements.

In 1938, the company adopted the name "Certina," which is derived from the Latin word "certus," meaning "certain" or "reliable." This name change reflected the brand's commitment to producing accurate and dependable timepieces.

In 1959, Certina introduced the DS (Double Security) concept, which enhanced the watches' water resistance and shock resistance. The DS concept became a hallmark of the brand, symbolizing the durability and robustness of Certina timepieces.

In 1972, Certina became a member of the Swatch Group, one of the world's largest watchmaking conglomerates. This affiliation provided Certina with resources and expertise to further develop its watchmaking capabilities.
