1973 Seiko (Ref. 6138-0030) “Kakume”
$899
The 6138-0030 nicknamed "Kakume" apparently meaning square eyes was released in 1970. It was the first fully integrated automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch coupling mechanism.
Unlike most modern chronographs it is actually better to let the chronograph run on the 6138/9 movements. When engaging a modern chronograph it adds tension to the movement. The opposite happens with the 6138/9 movement, the chronograph is always running, so when you stop it, it then adds tension to the movement.
