In 2017, after a long hiatus, Arthur started drawing again. “I was looking for another creative outlet, so I drew when I wasn’t performing,” he says. Two of his inspirations are Maurice Sendak the children’s book illustrator and Martin Lewis the etcher. “Like a great magic show, Sendak allows the reader to escape into a fantastical world through his beautiful illustrations. Similarly, Lewis’ etchings immerse you into his favorite subject - the dark streets of New York City.”
A long-time watch collector and enthusiast of horology, Arthur decided to depict one of his favorite subjects through his art. He explains: I have always been fascinated by watches. My favorite part is flipping a timepiece over and getting lost in the high level of finishing of a well-executed mechanical movement. Similarly, when drawing or painting a watch composition, I immerse myself in the stroke of the brush or pen. It is very important to me for the work to hold together artfully in detail and as a whole like a piece of haute horlogerie.
Keepiece is proud to offer Arthur’s watch art to the collector community, beginning the series to the beautiful Omega Calibre 321 movement.
